From Bob C.
Oregon’s 30th head coach, who in 2009 became the first in Pac-10 history to win an outright conference title in his first season at the helm, followed that feat with a second conference crown while securing the program’s first trip to the BCS Championship Game following the 2010 season. The Manchester, N.H., native guided his team to more wins (22) in his first two years in the Pac-8/10/12 than any coach in conference history. Recognized as Pac-10 coach of the year for the second time in as many seasons, Kelly was named the recipient of five national coach of the year awards last year: AFCA, AP, Eddie Robinson, Sporting News and Walter Camp. He’s overseen the team’s first 12-win season and led the Ducks to a school-record 12-game winning streak. In his first head coaching job at any level, Kelly has a mark of 23-5, 17-1 in Pac-12 play. His .821 overall winning percentage is the second-highest in school history and his .944 percentage in conference play is the best in Pac-12 history.  Sounds pretty elite to me.

Dr Duck says:
You're only telling one side of the story Bob.  Chip is 0-4 in big non-conference games (Boise St., tOSU, Auburn, LSU), but even if he had won some of those big games, the way he's recklessly running the program is risking serious long-term consequences.  Have you been following the latest rumors of more Chip Kelly problems in the next 4-6 weeks?  His time at the mighty University of New Hampshire has clearly not prepared him for the administrative demands of a major D1 football program.  He's a great offensive coordinator but as head coach he's in way over his head.  Is this the Chip Principle?  Maybe I should rename this site to www.demotechipkelly.com.

From Mo C.
I agree with you as much as i love Chip , he brought some scrutiny to our program . Look how our recruiting have staled after that investigation ..good site and GO DUCKS@!!

Dr. Duck says:
Thanks Mo.  NCAA scrutiny is not a good thing.  Look what happened to Boise St. this week, their self-sanctions weren't enough (according to ESPN's Andrea Adelson) and the NCAA decided to triple the penalties for what she reports in her blog as "violations (that) pale in comparison to what other schools across the country (Oregon) have been charged with".  Very scary.

From Arthur S.
First of all, I want to say that I question whether you are a real doctor. I don’t think a real doctor would make light of the weight problem Chip Kelly has – the obesity epidemic in our country is not something that we should joke about.  Second, with regard to the Ducks progress, I think you are on to something, but only part way. I blame Chip Kelly, yes, but only for his inability to get the most out of his players.

Dr Duck says:
I agree about the weight issue.  Dr. Duck could lose a few pounds himself.  I'm replacing #2 with something more constructive.

From TJ:
I have to sadly have to agree with some of your comments and appreciate the site.  I'm truly embarrassed by Chip's actions on and off the field.  It is time for him to go.

My Reasons Are:

1)  Complete disregard for the NCAA rules.  Chip's decision to pay Willie Lyles $25,000 to steer us players, lying to the NCAA by asking for scouting materials posthaste, helping execute a plan for LaMichael James to transfer to an Arkansas school for his final semester to avoid taking a standardized Texas state test required for college eligibility and brokering Nike's involvement in De'Anthony Thomas' signing day switch from USC to Eugene is disgraceful.  The NCAA is going to come after us hard and as long as he is still there the infractions continue to accumulate.  Start over now with a clean slate before we go on probation.

2)  Lack of ethics.  This ties back to my first point but Chip clearly has no ethics.  How can Chip keep these players on the team who continue to have run-in's with the law?  I do not like being the laughing stock of the PAC-12.  Let USC be the school with complete disregard for the rules.  Chip and his players have soiled the reputation of our University.  I'm embarrassed that the Eugene police department needs to set-up a precinct in our freaking locker room.  On and off the field brawls, burglary's, DUI's, criminal trespassing, physical harassments, drugs and 118 mph traffic citations, I'M TIRED OF IT.  A great coach would not recruit these type of players and for sure would kick them off the team after these crimes have been committed.

3)  Zero Leadership.  With the infractions he has committed, you cannot keep him as our coach...  Coaches must set an example for student athletes.  He never takes ownership of losses or poor game-day strategy, it is always the players fault.

Here is to the Ducks winning in the future on and off the field.

Dr Duck says;
A lot of shady stuff goes on in the world of recruiting, not just at Oregon.  I don't like that Chip was so careless, got caught, then made a pathetic attempt to cover it up, that made it look much worse than it probably was.  The NCAA needs to clarify their ridiculous and confusing rules on recruiting.

I disagree with your #2 in the sense that Chip has suspended players (even good ones) when necessary.  Off-field player incidents are just part of college football these days.  It's not reasonable to think they won't happen, but when they happen so frequently at the same school it's something to worry about.  I don't want to be the JailBlazers of college football.

From James S:
Out of curiosity, what elite coach, who can do better than chip, do you think would come to eugene? None is the only logical answer. Two pac 10 championships and two bcs bowls in two years is not good enough? He has taken the Oregon football program to heights no one could have imagined. As far as winning big games goes, let's not forget victories over an outstanding stanford team and uber talented sc teams. The thought that he has lost control over the football team is also preposterous. Have a good look at every elite team and most average teams across the country. Young men behavioral problems is a normal thing because they are YOUNG MEN. This website is a ridiculous example of knee jerk reactions brewed by media sensationalists and you sir, should be ashamed. Your efforts would be greater used for support of this university instead of negative, piss poor websites aimed at tearing down the football program. Go Ducks!

Dr Duck says:
You'd be surprised.  I bet there are a lot of coaches interested in a school that arguably has the best facilities and fans in the nation.  The Pac10 championships are not enough, that's exactly my point.  I want Oregon to be elite and win national championships.  I want Oregon to achieve the kind of success associated with schools like Florida, USC, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas.  I agree, Chip can't be responsible for every player's action.  I'm just concerned about the pattern under his leadership.  You can't tell me it hasn't increased in the last few years.  Piss poor website?  Ouch.  I'm working on it.

From Michael K:
I can't tell if you are joking or serious.  Your views are ignorant and elitist.  You act as if oregon is some sought after job and any coach would up and come to Eugene - the center of the college football universe.  Urban Meyer?  Please.  He's turned down multiple 'better' jobs than small time Oregon.  Yes I'm a duck fan, yes i go to 75% of games a year.  I'm embarrassed to be lumped into the same category as you.

I'm with you in that Chip isn't necessarily always a perfect citizen and coach, but your reasoning is asinine.  Give some better opinions that make you sound like you know what you are doing rather than playing xbox football all day long.

#10 - #9 are fine.
#8, keep in mind one team goes to the rose bowl (out of 12 now) and one team goes to the 'natty each year (out of what 85 now).  the PAC is tough and the nation is even more intense.  It takes some luck to get to the championship game.
#7 joke - follow college football and any other program where there are 100 young kids and stuff happens. There are issues at every school.
#6 you act like oregon should get the same recruits as USC.  What planet (or climate) do you live in? A few elite recruits is a solid pick up after you factor in location, history, etc.  If you think oregon is ever going to be an all american 2 deep team get a clue.
#5 homer
#4 you play xbox too much
#3 ever heard of context?
#2 totally discredits your page
#1 only time will tell - if he gets in trouble i agree.  if not. plenty of schools would take him.

Also, your pictures and video you include on your site take away from any and all credibility you have regarding the issue.  Very immature and makes you look like more of a honk. Its your right to have an opinion - some of which I agree with.  Just portray them in a way that makes people think you are serious.

Dr Duck says:
Some good points Michael.  Elitist?  Guilty as charged.  I want Oregon to be elite an not merely a strong program that makes it to a decent bowl once in awhile only to lose on a national stage.  #7, see above.  I think a pattern is emerging and I don't like it.  I'm not going to list all of those things (Masoli etc.) on here.  If we can consistently develop NFL talent, they should be able to lure away a lot more SoCal talent than they are today.  With the pictures, I'm trying to inject some humor to the situation. Not sure where the complaint about the video is coming from... did you see all of current and former Duck players in there?  Pretty sweet.

From Lois K:
I am a 1966 graduate of the U of O, have followed the Ducks a lot longer than you have and have studied the game for many years.  You should be ashamedof this website.  Chip Kelly is like a breath of fresh air!  I have been friendsof many families of former Duck football players and Chip Kelly is greatly respectedby former and present players.  Chip will weather any storm thrown in front ofhim and he does it with authority, fairness and intelligence.  I love Chip Kellyand I hope he never leaves.  His insight into life is so right on.  Football isa game that we love, he says, but it’s a game and not life.  He honors ourtroops in such a fine way which makes all of us in this community very proud.  Hewas coach of the year, after his second year as a head coach, and has been a “guru”of sorts for offensive football minds.  It’s apparent that his intelligence, humor (which I fine refreshing over the B.S. of most coaches) and his contributionsto the Duck football program has gone way over your head.  It’s a lie to callyourself a Duck fan.  Try another team and good riddance to you, another bandwagonfan.

Dr Duck says:
I like Chip.  Seems like a nice guy, and I have no problems with him personally.  I think he's a great offensive coordinator and would be a good head coach at a school that is OK with being good (but not great).  I think we can do better, and it may be an unpopular opinion.  Bandwagon?  Try another team?  No way!  GO DUCKS!
